Appointments System

Please note that the Practice staff are happy to deal with your day to day health queries/problems but please remember that we will not prioritise someone who walks in to the Practice over someone who telephones unless it is an emergency.  The Practice will do its best to see any patient with an immediate health issue within a 4 hour period.  If you give your details to Reception, they will arrange for the doctor/nurse to call you back.

Appointments can be booked during opening hours shown. .

Urgent Appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today (Monday to Friday):

  • phone us on 0191 460 4239, Monday and Tuesday 07:30am - 6pm and Wednesday to Friday from 8am to 6pm (Please note the practice is closed on a Tuesday between 12-1pm for staff training)
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday and Tuesday 07:30am - 6pm and Wednesday to Friday from 8am to 6pm (Please note the practice is closed on a Tuesday between 12-1pm for staff training)

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Making an appointment with a Practice Nursimg Team

The practice nurse carries out reviews on many ongoing conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. 

There are a lot of other services which our practice nurses can see you for including coil checks, contraceptive injections, contraceptive pill checks, inserting, replacing and removing contraceptive implants, dressings, holiday vaccinations, preventative health screening, smear tests and a variety of other services. 

When making an appointment with the nurse, please indicate to the receptionist the reason for the appointment as this will help to ensure you are booked in with the appropriate clinician.  The practice nurses work every day.

Telephone Appointments

All the doctors and nurses are happy to discuss and give medical advice on the telephone. If you feel able to discuss your problem over the phone please let the receptionist know anytime during our opening hours and they will arrange for a doctor or nurse to give you a ring back as soon as they can.

 

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Home Visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.

To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after opening which is 07:30am Monday and Tuesday and 8am the remainder of the week.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments. 

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Please note reminders are only send for face to face appointments. Reminders are not sent for telephone appointments. 

Cancelling or changing an Appointment

To cancel your appointment:

  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • phone us on 0191 460 4239, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
